Cricket is played in different formats like Test Cricket, One Day Cricket, and Twenty Twenty Cricket(T20). But the most popular are TEST CRICKET and ONE DAY cricket and now a days the T20 is also becoming popular.

In TEST Cricket game the time period is 5 in days and there are 90 overs a day in this game. And the other team tries to chase the score which the first team made within the limited time frame which is given (i.e. 5 days).

ONE DAY is the most popular game. In this game there are 300 balls (50 overs) for each team. The first team who bats first give the target to the other team to chase the given target within 300 balls.

MAIN PLAYERS

The main players are in this game are:

  1. BATSMEN
  2. BOWLING
  3. FIELDING

BATSMEN are those who scores runs of the balls bowled by the bowler.

BOWLER are those who bowls, and tries to get the batsmen “OUT” (dismissed from the ground).

FIELDERS are the 10 players along with Wicket-keeper who assist the bowler in achieving his goal, and prevent the batsmen from scoring runs.

In the 19th century Cricket had become well established in many countries like Australia, the Caribbean, India, New Zealand, North America and South Africa.

In the 1876–77, an England team took part in the first-ever Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground against Australia team. Test cricket started to expand in 1888–89 when the South Africa played England.

International Cricket in the 20th Century

The Test cricket continued to expand during the 20th century with the addition of the West Indies team (1928), New Zealand (1930) and India (1932).

Before the 2nd World War & then Pakistan (1952), Sri Lanka (1982), Zimbabwe (1992) and Bangladesh (2000) in the post-war period. South Africa was banned from world cricket from 1970 to 1992 as part of the racism boycott.

The Rising of Limited Overs in Cricket

The first Limited Overs was played in 1971 in the cricket. In the 21st century, a new limited overs form T20 (Twenty Twenty), made an prompt impact.

On 22nd June 2017, Afghanistan & Ireland became the 11th and 12th ICC full members, enabling them to play Test cricket.
